Subscriptions and Account Information
- My free Pro/Webinar trial has ended. How can I extend the trial period?
After 30 days, your Pro or Webinar trial period ends and you are automatically converted to a free user. The trial period for Pro or Webinar cannot be extended. You will have to buy the product if you want to continue using Pro or Webinar features. - I want to switch from a Free account to a paid one. How do I do this?
Log in to your account and click the Upgrade button. For more information, see Upgrade your Account. - How do I cancel my subscription?
Log in to your account and under the Accounts tab, click Account Info and choose Cancel Account. For more information, see Deleting your account. - Can I subscribe for just a month or two at a time?
Yes, you can subscribe to a monthly plan and use it for as many months as you want to. - Can I buy a Dimdim account for a day?
You cannot buy a Dimdim account for a day at this time. Dimdim has two payment plans - Monthly and Annual. - Do subscriptions renew automatically?
Yes, your Dimdim subscriptions renew automatically. - If I have opted for a monthly payment and would like to cancel that, how much time will it take?
It will take four to five business days. - Where can I view receipts for my payments?
To get the invoice for your subscription, kindly send across the request with your Dimdim id to support@dimdim.com. - How do I change my personal details?
Log in to your account and under the Accounts tab, click Account Info. Enter your details and click OK to update your personal details. - How do I change my password?
Log in to your account and under the Accounts tab, click Change Password. Enter your current password, then type and re-type your new password where indicated. Click the Change button. - I have forgotten my password. How do I reset it?
Go to the Sign In page and click the Forgot your password? button. In the dialog box that appears, enter your Dimdim ID and click Reset it. An email with a link to reset your password will be send to your email address (the email you entered while setting up your account).
Compatibility
- I've already registered for an account. Do I need to install anything for Dimdim to work?
You do not have to install or download anything to run a Dimdim meeting. All you need is a browser - Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome or Safari. - Do people attending a meeting need to install any software?
People attending a Dimdim meeting do not have to install any software. - Does Dimdim run on PCs and Macs?
Yes, Dimdim runs smoothly on all operating systems - Mac, Linux and Windows. - What is the minimum bandwidth required for Dimdim to run?
The minimum bandwidth required for Dimdim to run is approximately 150 kbps. - Does Dimdim work on secure networks?
Yes, Dimdim works on secure networks. The following ports must be open - Port 80, 1935, 40000, 40001, 40002, 40005.
The Dimdim Servers use ports 80 and 1935 for external communication. But port 80 alone is enough to be opened for external communication.
In addition, ports 40000/ 40001/ 40002 / 40003 / 40005 must be free for internal communication. - What is the system requirement?

Yes, it is possible to change the webinar into a meeting before the meeting starts. Log in to your account, search for the meeting and click the Edit button. Yes, you can edit the webinar and change it to a meeting. Log in to your account and from the upcoming meetings dialog box click the Edit button. Change the webinar to a meeting and click the Update button. - Can I send out invites to people before starting my meeting?
Yes, you can send out invites to people before starting the meeting. For more information, see Inviting Attendees to the Meeting. - Can I customize the invitations that will be sent to my attendees?
Yes, you can customize the invitations that you send out. For more information, see Customizing the Invite Email. - How can I use widgets to invite attendees?
Your attendees can use the widget to register themselves for your Dimdim meeting. It is not possible to use widgets to invite your attendees. - Is it possible to upload a list of emails from Outlook into the widget?
No, it is not possible to upload a list of emails from Outlook into the widget.
Inside the Meeting
- Is it possible to hide the participants' list?
Yes, you can hide the participants' list. To hide the participants' list, log in to your account and under the Home tab, click Preferences and in the Features tab page, switch off the participant list. - Is it possible to hold a meeting with the participants' list off?
Yes, you can conduct a meeting with the Participants' list switched off. To switch off the participants' list off, log in to your account and under the Home tab, click Preferences and in the Features tab page, switch off the participant list. - After the participants' list is hidden, what happens when the host makes one of the attendees the presenter? Will the new presenter be seen?
Even if the participants' list is hidden the host will always be able to see the attendees' list. The attendees will see their name and the host's name in the meeting room.
If the host makes one of the attendees the presenter, the new presenter will be seen by the attendees along with the host. Attendees will see the host's name, their name and the new presenter's name. - How many presenters can one have in a meeting at a time?
The host can make any attendee a presenter at any time, but at any one given time, there can be only one presenter. In essence, anybody can be made the presenter, but sequentially - no two people can be presenters simultaneously. - Can the host change the mood settings of attendees?
The host cannot change the mood settings of attendees. - I see a button in the public chat area. What happens when I click the button?
The button that you (attendee of the meeting) see above the public chat area enables you to lock the public chat window. If you click the button, you will still see the public chat window even when the host of the meeting hides the public chat window. - How do I ask a question during a meeting?
You can ask a question during a meeting in the following ways:
1. Using the public and private chat features. See Chatting Privately and Using Public Chat.
2. Changing your mood status to question. See Changing your Mood.
3. Using the microphone if you have been assigned with one.
Audio Video
- How many people can connect to the audio at one time?
Depending on the type of audio communication you are using, the number of people connecting to the audio will vary. If you are using the Dimdim VOIP, everyone can listen in and 4 participants (the presenter and 3 attendees) can talk at a time. - How do I select a camera and microphone for my webmeeting if I have multiple cameras/microphones?
If you are starting a Dimdim web meeting and you want to use the web cam, please make sure you have closed all applications which use the web cam facility (e.g. Gmail video chat, Yahoo web cam).
You can select your camera and microphone from the Adobe Flash Player Settings dialog box. For more information, see Using your Camera. - How do I increase the microphone volume if the audio is feeble?
You can increase the volume from the Video Chat window. - Can a host mute all the attendees in a meeting?
No, a host cannot mute all the attendees in a meeting. For more information, see Muting the Audio. - Is it possible to expand the video screen?
Yes, it is possible to expand the video broadcaster screen in Dimdim Pro edition. For more information, see Expanding the Video Screen. - Does the presenter have to dial into the audio conference or will his webcam audio be routed to the phone?
Dimdim provides two ways of audio communication between the participants of the meeting and the host - microphone (VOIP) and teleconference bridge. These two services are not integrated. Participants have to either use VOIP or use the teleconference bridge. If used together, the attendees on VOIP will not be able to hear the participants on the teleconference bridge and vice versa. - Will the audio/video quality reduce when a large number of participants are attending the meeting? Does performance degrade with increasing number of users?
The performance or the A/V quality will not degrade even if a large number of participants are attending the meeting. - Can you move the AV broadcaster to the upper right hand corner?
You can move the AV broadcaster to any part of the meeting room.
Sharing Screen, Documents and Whiteboard
- How do i uninstall the myScreen plugin?
You can uninstall the plugin in the following way:
- Is there any way to stop attendees from writing on the white board?
You can simply lock the annotation toolbar. For more information, see Using the Annotation Toolbar. - How do you lock the whiteboard?
You can lock the whiteboard by clicking the lock button in the annotation toolbar. For more information, see Using the Annotation Toolbar.
Once you lock the whiteboard, attendees will no longer be able to make changes on the whiteboard.
To unlock the whiteboard, click the lock button again. - Can my attendees use the annotations tools when I am sharing files?
Yes, shared presentations can be annotated by the attendees. For more information, see Using the Annotation Toolbar. - If waiting area is enabled, can the host upload documents?
Yes, the host of the meeting can upload documents when attendees are in the waiting area. For more information, see Sharing your documents and Allowing Attendees to Join Meeting from Lobby. - Can files other than PPT or PDF be uploaded for participant to download (not to view)?
Yes, attendees can download files. - Is it possible to upload a Powerpoint presentation larger than 20MB?
20 MB is the limit and a file beyond this size will not be uploaded. - Are hyperlinks active in a document which is being shared?
No, the hyperlinks in an uploaded document are not active. - Can I share videos on screen share?
You can share videos using myScreen sharing. You can also share online videos using the Mashup feature.

You can use myScreen sharing for showing PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, images and any other software running on your computer. - If screen sharing is on, can the presenter chat privately with an attendee without others seeing the chat window?
If screen sharing is on, the presenter cannot chat privately with an attendee without others seeing the chat window. - Does the annotation tool bar disappear from the attendees' screen when the host locks it?
Yes, the annotation tool bar disappears from the attendees' screen when the host locks it. - Is it possible to hide the annotation toolbar from the host's screen?
Currently, it is not possible to hide the annotation toolbar from the host's screen. - Is it possible to save/record the whiteboard annotations and use it after the meeting?
The whiteboard annotations cannot be saved or recorded. However, after the meeting, until and unless the presenter/attendees delete the annotations from the whiteboard, the annotations gets saved for the next meeting. - Is it possible to share only a part of your screen?
Yes, you can share a part of your screen or a single application. - Can I go into a scheduled meeting and upload PDFs or PPTs before the meeting starts?
Yes, you can use the resource manager to upload documents before the meeting starts. For more information, see Uploading a Document. - If you make an attendee the presenter and the attendee uses the desktop sharing feature. Is it possible for the host of the meeting to control the attendee's mouse?
At this time, it is not possible for the host to control the attendee's mouse remotely. - Is it possible to have multiple desktop sharing session in a meeting at the same time?
At this time, only a single desktop sharing session can take place in a meeting at a time. - Is it possible to upload a video and share it with participants?
You can also upload the embedded code of an online videos using the Mashup feature. You can also use the share desktop feature and show the video to your participants. - Is it possible to use multiple features at the same time? For instance, can I use the whiteboard while sharing my desktop?
No, it is not possible to use multiple features at the same time.

Recording
- Can we record meetings?
Yes, you can record your meeting. For more information, see Recording your Meeting. - How do I access the recording of the meeting? Can I download/distribute the recording?
You can view the recording of the meeting using the search option or via the link in the email sent by Dimdim. For more information, see Viewing the Recording of your Meeting.
You can also choose to download the recording file (FLV) and play it using any Flash player. You can even embed the codes and paste the meeting player on your website or blog. - What is recorded when the presenter presses the record button?

- Is it possible to record audio of attendees if they have dialed in using the teleconference bridge?
Dimdim does not support the recording of audio from the teleconference. Only audio from the Dimdim microphone is recorded. - What's the limit on the length of the recordings?
The limit on the length of the recording is the same as that of the meeting duration - 12 hours 45 minutes. - Is it possible to save responses to questions posted by attendees?
If attendees post their questions through public chat and the meeting is being recorded, then the chat transcripts are saved.
Security
- How secure is a Dimdim web meeting?
Dimdim does not retain any content that is uploaded or shared during a meeting. All chat messages, audio or video streams, shared presentations which are used are purged at the end of the hosted meeting.
Further, no one can join your meeting or view your shared content without your knowledge since they require your unique meeting key. Finally, all attendees are indicated in the participants' list. It is possible to restrict entry to your meeting room by enabling the waiting room. For more information see Securing your Meeting Room.
- Is it possible to share secured/protected documents using document sharing facility?
No, it is not possible to share secured or protected documents using the document sharing feature.
Troubleshooting
- What do I do if my system crashes while hosting a meeting - how do I restart the event and will my participants still be there?
Dimdim is crash savvy. Log in to your account and start the same meeting again. You will automatically rejoin the meeting. Your attendees will not know what happened at your end.
